Design Engineer for Ballast Water Treatment Systems and Scrubber Retrofits
Reporting to the Project Manager and Technical Manager
- Preparing 2D & 3D structural and piping drawings with the use of AutoCad, SolidWorks Plant 3D or any other similar software
- Contribute to the correct and timely preparation of the engineering and design retrofits projects
- Executing special engineering tasks and projects
- Willing to visit vessels abroad for 3D scanning
The successful candidate will have proven track records in similar studies and projects as described above with at least a year of experience in the field. Knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), modeling and retrofits will be further considered as additional qualifications.

On 15 May 2014 the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) issued the “Craft Risk Management Standard” (CRMS) requirements for biofouling on vessels arriving to New Zealand. These requirements, applicable to all vessels arriving at New Zealand, become effective on 15 May 2018.

On 1 January 2018 Rightship changed the age trigger for dry cargo inspection on vessels over 8,000 DWT from 18 years to 14 years, after which an annual RightShip inspection will be required. AMC over the past years has conducted hundreds of ‘pre-Rightship’ (preparatory) surveys / inspections with successful results, and has significant expertise on this issue.
