Computational Evaluation of Flettner Rotor Performance Using CFD Simulation

Alpha Marine Consulting P.C. conducted a detailed simulation to evaluate the performance of a single Flettner Rotor under certain conditions.

Utilizing Siemens Star CCM+ software, the AMC CFD team set up a simulation with critical parameters such as rotor dimensions and wind conditions. The simulation results demonstrated excellent agreement with published values enabling the implementation of Flettner Rotors across various types of vessels, with an emphasis on evaluating their performance under real-world operating conditions.
