Wind-Assisted Propulsion Gains Momentum in the Decarbonization Era!

Alpha Marine Consulting sincerely thanks all who attended the Technical Dialogue on Wind-Assisted Propulsion, co-hosted with OCEANKING and Bound4blue on May 22.

The event facilitated an engaging and productive exchange on the real-world application of wind-assisted propulsion (WAPS) technologies in shipping.

Georgios D. Kouris, R&D Manager at AMC, presented insights from the company’s involvement in the EU-funded SEASTARS project
and shared technical design requirements towards integrating WAPS on commercial vessels. Valuable perspectives were also offered by John Kokarakis from Bureau Veritas Group
and David Ferrer Desclaux from Bound4blue, who discussed classification standards, third-party validation, and performance results from current WAPS installations.

A dynamic panel discussion followed, featuring all stakeholders, including Laskaridis Shipping Co. Ltd., and welcoming audience interaction, enriching the collaborative dialogue.
