IMO Resolution MSC.581(110) Revised Recommendations for Entering Enclosed Spaces Aboard Ships
Recognizing the increasing accident rate related to Enclosed Space Entry,
IMO has updated its guidance with enhanced expectations for Enclosed Space Entry Procedures.
The new MSC.581(110) imposes new requirements related to:
- Space-Specific Enclosed Space Entry guidance for each ship, through the development of an Enclosed Space Register
- Atmosphere Testing, including the mandatory measurement of CO₂
- Enclosed Space Rescue procedures
- Crew Training and Competencies
The Enclosed Space Register, as described in the resolution (para. 4.2), is a ship-specific register that must list all enclosed spaces, their connected and adjacent spaces, their specific hazards, and necessary risk mitigations, including time to achieve the required air changes, gas testing methods and Lock-Out/ Tag-out.
AMC has developed a full compliance solution, aligned with all Industry Requirements, aiming to upgrade Safety Standards and Crew Awareness while enhancing Vetting Performance.
