AMC News: Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of a Wind-Assisted Ship Utilizing Flettner Rotors

The AMC research team is conducting a comprehensive investigation into the impact of rotor-assisted propulsion on ship performance through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The current study focuses on a full-scale simulation involving four Flettner rotors, emphasizing significant advancements in computational modeling techniques and the evaluation of propulsion performance.

Using Siemens Star CCM+, our CFD team developed a high-fidelity numerical model to analyze rotor-induced forces and their influence on propulsion efficiency aiming to quantify their real-world benefits in terms of fuel savings and emission reductions.
