Advancing Innovation and Collaboration for Net-Zero – AMC at LISW25 !
It was an honor for Alpha Marine Consulting, represented by Georgios D. Kouris, to participate in the joint event held on 16th of September in London, organized by MarRI-UK and the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, during LISW2025.
The session was expertly moderated by Evangelos Boulougouris.
Discussions centered on how international collaboration and research can accelerate the transition to net-zero shipping, exploring both the opportunities for innovation and the challenges ahead. Grateful to our co-panelists Rosa Vilariño, James Lovett, Lasse Normann de Boer, Vasili Savitski, and Stylianos Papageorgiou for sharing such valuable insights.
Reflecting on the session, Georgios D. Kouris, AMC R&D Manager, emphasized:
“The maritime sector is inherently global, and its decarbonization will only be achieved through collective action. Success depends on countries, companies, and institutions working together to share technology, harmonize standards, and scale investment. Pilot research projects are critical in reducing risk, validating concepts under real-world conditions, and fostering the confidence and partnerships necessary to implement solutions at scale across the industry.”
